Seal The Deal: Weatherproofing Your Home - Thursday, November 11th, 7pm
Learn about the different solar panel options available.  We cover the process from beginning to end including discussions of your location, all associated costs, and the benefits of photovoltaic and solar thermal systems.  All currently available incentives are discussed as well.

Mind and Meditation Seminar - Thursday, November 18th, 7pm
If your house or apartment is uncomfortably hot or cold, then this class is for you. You will learn cost effective ways to make your space more comfortable during cold weather. Caulking, window films, weatherstripping, and insulation will be covered.
 

Urban Composting - Saturday, November 20th, 11am
Break it down! Who knew composting in the city could be so easy? Composting is the decomposition of organic materials to make an earthy, dark, crumbly substance that is excellent nutrition for your houseplants or enriching your garden. It is the best way to recycle your yard and kitchen wastes, and is a critical step in reducing the volume of garbage needlessly sent to landfills for disposal. Soil and healthy plants depend on compost. Join us in learning how to make compost with no smell, no fuss, and no muss!

INSTRUCTOR BIOS

Anca Novacovici is the founder and president of Eco-Coach, Inc., an environmental sustainability consultancy that provides services and tools to help businesses and individuals decrease their environmental footprint. She has led "greening" workshops, conducted green business audits, and helped with implementing more environmentally-friendly processes for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to smaller businesses and individuals. Anca is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited professional and is on the Board of the Green Building Institute.

Reuven Walder is the founder and vice-president of In-Home Services and an energy auditor for ecobeco. He is a Certified Building Analyst through the Building Performance Institute and a member of the Maryland Home Performance with Energy Star Program. He has a broad base of knowledge around building science, energy efficiency and environmentally friendly products. A committed conservationist, Walder has devoted his career to developing an array of projects aimed to reduce resource consumption and promote sustainability. He is an experienced environmental educator utilizing his broad base of scientific and mechanical systems knowledge to educate and empower people around him to wisely use and protect our resources whether on a nature tour or in their home.

Jennifer Stevenson is an instructor and program manager for the Art of Living Foundation. She teaches self-development workshops for adults and corporations and youth empowerment workshops for high school and college students, all based on yoga, meditation and breathing techniques. She is also a certified yoga teacher with 500 hours of training.
